Philosophy and Mission

Vision

To plant seeds of Christian faith in each student so that he/she will graduate with a heart for God and be prepared to serve Him in every area in life.

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE A MUSTARD SEED, …THOUGH IT IS THE SMALLEST OF ALL YOUR SEEDS, YET WHEN IT GROWS, IT IS THE LARGEST OF GARDEN PLANTS AND BECOMES A TREE…
                                                  MATTHEW 13:31 (NIV)

Mission

Our primary mission is to glorify God in all that we say and do.  Secondly, we will partner with family and church to instill HIGH standards of excellence for the students in all areas of their lives, academically as well as spiritually, socially, and physically.  We will prepare students to serve Jesus Christ as Lord.  It is our privilege to help each student discover his/her spiritual gifts and help him/her prosper with those gifts.

FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD, PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE.
                                                  JEREMIAH 29:11 (NIV)

Philosophy

• The education of children can be viewed as a three legged stool. Parents make up the first leg and have the primary responsibility for educating their children (Genesis 17:7; Deuteronomy 6:7, 8; Proverbs 22:6). The Christian school and church provide complementary roles in making up the second and third legs, as they work together in educating children to become people who love God and enjoy fellowship with Him and others.

• The goal of Christian education is to develop students who will serve God and impact their community and the world by thinking and acting biblically in all areas of life (Romans 12:2).

• God has created all students with unique talents as well as individual developmental patterns. Therefore, the learning process is enhanced as teachers employ various teaching strategies and instructional environments (Psalms 139:13-15; Romans 12:4-8).

• Christian education is the result of all knowledge being tested against, and integrated with, a biblically based view of God and the world (Colossians 1:16, 17; John 1:3).

• Excellence in education brings glory to God and provides a compelling witness to our neighbors (Philippians 1:9-11).

• The core values of SFCA reflect and expand upon our philosophy of Christian education.

Statement of Faith

We acknowledge Jesus Christ as the foundation for all truth.  If schools do not acknowledge this, they cannot effectively teach the truth.  God’s Word and therefore truth has not changed since the beginning of time.

God’s Word is the foundation for what we believe.  Built upon God’s Word, The Apostles’ Creed  is a statement of SFCA’s beliefs.

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ
his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the
right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick
and the dead.  We believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic (universal) church; the
communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life
everlasting.  Amen

We believe the Bible (both Old and New Testament) to be the only inspired, the only infallible, the only authoritative Word of God.  We affirm that the Bible, though written by men, was supernaturally inspired by God so that all its words are the written true revelation of God; it is therefore inerrant in the originals and authoritative in all matters.
          2 Timothy 3:16

We believe man was originally created in the image and likeness of God; he fell through willful disobedience, incurring both physical and spiritual death.  All people are sinners from conception, are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
          Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23

We believe that all things were created by God.  Human beings were directly created, not evolved, in the very image of God.  As reasoning moral agents, they are responsible under God for understanding and governing themselves and the world.
          Genesis 1:1–31; 2:7

We believe marriage is between a man and a woman.
          Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:31; Romans 1:24-32

We believe that salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all people, and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit.  They receive the gift of eternal life and become the children of God.

That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  Romans 10:9, 10 (NIV)

We believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6 (NIV)

We believe the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ will be personal and visible.  He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth, which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service.
       1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Romans 14:10-12; Matthew 24:27-31, 36-44
